About me

I am a bioinformatician and data scientist who is passionate about biology. I studied evolutionary biology and worked on genomics and genomic barcoding of plants, with a special focus on the DNA (meta-)barcoding of medicinal plants. I have experience in regulatory affairs from my work at the National Institute of Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC). I am now a self-employed bioinformatician based in Zurich, working with partners in the phytopharmaceutical and food industries. Furthermore, I offer data science services, particularly using R.

Services

DNA Metabarcoding for Natural Ingredients

DNA barcoding has huge potential for the quality control of natural ingredients. This is especially interesting to phytopharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food supplements and other food products. With the advent of next-generation sequencing, DNA authentication methods have become the new standard. I provide full consulting from project design to data analysis. Learn more

DNA Standards for Pharmacopoeias

DNA identification methods are emerging as reference standards for phytopharmaceuticals. Many companies are not equipped to conducting these tests and lack experience in DNA authentication methods. Learn more.

Bioinformatics for Next-Generation Sequencing

I have worked many years in bioinformatics and have lab experience with library preparation mehtods. Learn more

Data Science

I offer data science consulting, especially when it comes to R. If you need help in producing reporting pipelines, accessing databases, or if you want to deploy a shiny app, I can help you. Learn more
